Katy, Texas Insurance Company History

Built on Education, Grounded in the Katy Community

The DeNeve Agency grew from a simple but powerful idea: that most people are not well-served by an insurance market focused almost entirely on finding the lowest price. Wes DeNeve set out to change that in Katy, Texas, by building an agency that functions more like a financial educator than a policy vendor. Over the years, that approach has shaped every part of how the agency operates. The team takes time to walk clients through the mechanics of their coverage, explain why certain protections matter, and point out where standard policies fall short. This insurance company Katy Texas history is not one of rapid expansion or corporate growth; it is a story of steady, relationship-driven service to families, homeowners, landlords, and business owners across Southeast Texas. Wes is a recognized face in the community, serving on the board of the Katy ISD Teachers Grant Foundation and supporting the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for over a decade. Amy Keller, the agency's Customer Service Representative with more than 12 years of experience, ensures every client interaction reflects the same warmth and professionalism that defines the agency's culture.

People Before Profit Insurance

What Policy Forensics and the Advisor Model Mean for You

The phrase "people before profit" is not a marketing slogan at the DeNeve Agency; it is the operating principle behind every client conversation. When you bring your existing policies to the agency for review, the team conducts what they call policy forensics: a careful, systematic look at your current coverage to identify gaps that could leave you financially exposed when you need protection most. This might mean discovering that your standard homeowners policy does not cover flood damage, or that your liability limits are too low to protect your personal assets in a lawsuit. Rather than steering clients toward the most expensive option, the agency recommends the coverage level that genuinely fits each person's life and budget. If a client chooses a lower tier of protection after a full review, the agency respects that decision while making sure it was an informed one. The agency serves clients across a wide geography, from Galveston to Huntsville and Beaumont to Sealy, offering coverage across home and property, auto and recreational vehicles, business and commercial lines, and life insurance. The Concierge Business Directory extends that value further, connecting clients with a vetted network of over 20 local professionals, from roofing contractors to mortgage lenders, so that the agency becomes a central resource for life's most important decisions, not just a place to buy a policy.

Meet The Team

Wes DeNeve

Agent/Owner

I have been in the insurance industry for over 15 years. During this time, I have been an agency owner and worked for large companies. What excites me most about my job is the ability to work with people involved in the community. Our goal is to make sure people understand the coverage they are purchasing,

I was born in Houston, TX. However, I went to high school and college in Louisiana and moved back to Houston in 1988. During my personal time, I enjoy spending time with my family, hunting, and just about anything outdoors. My son plays football and runs track. My daughter plays club soccer. So we enjoy going to their sporting events. I am also a big duck and deer hunter.

When I’m not in the office, you can usually find me out enjoying hunting, skiing, and traveling. September- the end of January I will be hunting. Other times of the year, if we aren’t and a kids sporting event, we are probably traveling. Additionally, my outdoor guilty pleasure is cooking on my grill or smoker.

Volunteering with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is something I’m passionate about. and have supported their cause for about 10 years now.

I’m a big believer in education. I am on the board for the Katy ISD teachers grant foundation and on the advisory board for my kids’ middle school. In addition to that, we love animals so we like to support animal charities and charities like the wounded warrior foundation.

Your Questions, Answered Honestly

Common Questions About the DeNeve Agency

  • What makes the DeNeve Agency different from other insurance agencies in the Katy, Texas area?

The DeNeve Agency operates as a consultative advisor rather than a traditional policy seller. Instead of leading with the lowest price, the team focuses on identifying coverage gaps in your existing policies and explaining the reasoning behind each recommendation. This approach, called policy forensics, is designed to make sure clients understand exactly what they are buying and why it matters. The agency is family-owned, with deep roots in the Katy community through involvement with the Katy ISD Teachers Grant Foundation and over a decade of support for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
  • How long has Wes DeNeve been working in the insurance industry?

Wes DeNeve has been working in the insurance industry for over 15 years. During that time, he has built the agency around a people-before-profit philosophy, prioritizing client education and honest recommendations over sales volume. His team includes Amy Keller, a Customer Service Representative with more than 12 years of experience, who ensures that every client is treated with the same care and attention that defines the agency's culture.
  • What types of insurance does the DeNeve Agency offer to residents and businesses in Greater Houston?

The agency covers a broad range of personal and commercial insurance needs. On the personal side, that includes homeowners, flood, condo, renter's, landlord, umbrella, auto, motorcycle, boat, and recreational vehicle insurance. For businesses, the agency offers Business Owner's Policies, business liability coverage, commercial auto, and workplace supplemental benefits. Life insurance options include term, whole, and universal life policies. The agency serves clients across Southeast Texas, from Galveston to Huntsville and Beaumont to Sealy.
  • What is policy forensics, and why does it matter when reviewing existing coverage?

Policy forensics is the agency's process of carefully reviewing your current insurance policies to find coverage gaps that could leave you financially exposed. For example, a standard homeowners policy does not cover flood damage, which is treated as a separate act of nature requiring its own policy. Without this kind of review, many homeowners, renters, and business owners carry policies they believe are comprehensive but that fall short in critical areas. The DeNeve Agency uses this diagnostic approach to give clients a clear picture of where they are protected and where they are not, before a claim ever happens.
  • Does the DeNeve Agency only serve clients in Katy, or does it cover a wider area?

While the agency is headquartered in Katy, Texas, its service reach extends across the Greater Houston metropolitan area and the broader Southeast Texas corridor. Clients from communities ranging from Galveston to Huntsville and Beaumont to Sealy are served through the agency's direct coverage and its Concierge Business Directory, a vetted network of over 20 local professionals that extends the agency's practical value beyond insurance policies alone.
  • What is the Concierge Business Directory, and how does it benefit clients?

The Concierge Business Directory is a curated network of vetted local professionals that the agency makes available to its clients. It includes service providers such as roofing contractors, mortgage lenders, restoration companies, and other professionals that clients are likely to need at some point, especially after a covered loss. Rather than leaving clients to search for reliable help on their own during a stressful time, the agency connects them directly with trusted partners who have been evaluated for quality. Some Concierge members, like ABCO Door, carry verified A+ BBB ratings, reflecting the standard the agency holds its partners to.
  • How does the DeNeve Agency approach life insurance recommendations for families in Katy?

The agency uses a structured approach to help families understand how much life insurance coverage they actually need. This includes a 2-minute life insurance calculator that evaluates income replacement needs, outstanding mortgage balances, and future education funding requirements. For context, a four-year in-state public university education currently costs around $72,000, while a private college education can reach $158,000. These benchmarks help families make informed decisions about the right coverage level rather than guessing at a number. The agency offers term, whole, and universal life options, each suited to different financial goals and timelines.
  • Does the agency use high-pressure sales tactics when recommending coverage?

No. The agency's model is built around education rather than pressure. Wes DeNeve and his team will always recommend the level of protection they believe is genuinely right for your situation, but the final decision belongs to you. If a client chooses a lower tier of coverage after a full review, the agency respects that choice while making sure it was made with complete information. The goal is for every client to feel informed and confident about their coverage, not rushed or sold to.
